Abounding with visual and performing arts of every description, this annual celebration of African culture continues in its mission to improve the lives of all Canadian citizens by creating new bonds of friendship and mutual appreciation.
This year Afrikadey! is celebrating its 20th year of intriguing and compelling programming.
The Afrikadey! Arts & Culture Society of Calgary welcomes legendary Afro-Soul singer Angelique Kidjo to this year’s 20th anniversary of Afrikadey! festival. An accomplished and internationally renowned artist with a golden reputation and an even sweeter voice, Ms. Angelic Kidjo is proud to headline this year’s musical performance on beautiful Prince’s Island in the heart of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. A bonafide musical superstar with a rare gift for delivering her message of self-empowerment with style and grace, Angelique is the perfect addition to Afrikadey! 2011’s impressive line-up of performers.
Other artists featured at this year’s main stage music festival on Prince’s Island include: Rap/R&B sensation Shad, African chanteuse Nomfusi and the stunning Ara the Queen of African drums, amongst many more.
