This is a First Thursday event
Asya Barker (Calgary), Brooklyn Fink (Calgary)
@ 7PM in the Main Space
"We are Cult of P, local interdisciplinary artist duo, Asya Barker and Brooklyn Fink. A product of our 21st century 'Remix Culture', our work hybridizes a variety of concepts, media, and process; the most important of which, perhaps, is our ongoing fusion of the 'youth culture' and the 'art culture' in our city.
We firmly believe that everyone is an artist. You don't become an artist after six years of art school and an MFA. You're an artist when you're watching Pokémon on TV and then going back and drawing Pikachu inside the cover of one of your favorite Goosebumps novels. So we try to tap into the rich creative juices flowing through kids, by offering opportunities for youth to really get involved with the artist-run culture in Calgary: through our URBANBuRN Festival, or our Build Your Own Vinyl Toy workshops, or even just by speaking to kids about the great things  that can come out of something as simple as drawing some cartoons with your buddy and then gluing them on the wall.
Please allow us to give you a glimpse Thursday, December 3rd in tto the amazing world that's creating itself around this synthesis of youth and art culture, by joining us for an artist talk at TRUCK Contemporary Art in Calgary."
