Event Description:

The Department of Music in the Faculty of Arts presents CONTRASTS – the 7th Annual University of Calgary Chamber Music Festival on June 4, 7, 10 and 12, 2011 at the Eckhardt-Gramatté Hall, Rozsa Centre, University of Calgary.

Chamber music is designed to give small groups of performers and their audience an intimate, shared musical experience.

CONTRASTS showcases a full variety of musical talent and style within the U of C’s Music Department with a repertoire ranging from jazz and classical to folk and new music, from harp to saxophone to African drums. The festival will feature alumni, faculty, and students alongside notable guest artists, including Edmonton Symphony Orchestra first violinist and U of C alumna Anna Kozak, and 2011 and 2010 Rose Bowl winners Ashley Ko (flute), and Scott MacIsaac (piano), both U of C Music students.

CONTRASTS will also feature the world premières of new pieces by U of C Masters student Cavan Carson and award-winning U of C PhD student Michalis Andronikou.
