March 19 – April 29, 2010At the Crossroads:  Helen Stadelbauer and Wes Irwin  - Curated by Mary-Beth Laviolette, art historian, independent curator and author of numerous publications on Alberta contemporary art, this survey/documentary traces the artistic and academic careers of Calgary artists Helen Stadelbauer (1910-2006) and Wes Irwin (1897-1976).Stadelbauer and Irwin have been credited by art historians as two of the earliest pioneers of Modernism in Calgary and Alberta art and major proponents of avant-garde movements in the visual arts.
