Event Description:

Sled Island is an annual four-day independent music and arts festival in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This year’s festival runs June 22-25 and will bring together over 200 artists and bands in more than 25 venues throughout the city. Since 2007, Sled Island’s innovative, eclectic programming and independent spirit have combined with Calgary’s youthful energy to produce a festival that now attracts a diverse and global audience, is praised by local and international artists, and was recently voted one of the top 10 music festivals in Canada by listeners of CBC Radio 3.


Sled Island Film is the official film program of Sled Island Music and Arts Festival. Sled Island Film's 3rd program year features a compact selection of independent Canadian and Alberta premiere music docs and features at The Plaza Theatre, including Color Me Obsessed: A Documentary about The Replacements; a witty Canadian feature entitled Everything Louder Than Everything Else featuring live performance by Steve McBean (Pink Mountain Tops and Black Mountain) and Ryan Beattie (Frog Eyes); the survival of the record industry in Firewall of Sound; New Jerusalem, a narrative feature co-starring Will Oldham (Bonnie “Prince” Billy), plus a pile of shorts on bikes and more for June 22!
