Festivals in Calgary

Calgary is home to exceptional festivals all year long. Between May and August, over 40 festivals take place in Calgary - an average of two-and-a-half festivals each week! Summer festivals like the Calgary International Children's Festival, Sled Island, Calgary Jazz Festival, Calgary Folk Music Festival, Fringe Festival, Calgary International Blues Festival, ReggaeFest, Afrikadey!, GlobalFest, Expo Latino and many more are a perfect way to try something different and enjoy time with friends and family during the warm weather months.

Fall brings a new slate of festivals, including the 10-day Calgary International Film Festival in late September, the Calgary Improv Festival, WordFest Writer's Festival, plus a variety of other visual art, music and performative art festivals. And starting in January each year, artists and audiences from all over the world gather  in local theatres, concert halls and exhibition spaces to experience Calgary's renowned winter festivals. The High Performance Rodeo, Exposure Photography Festival, Alberta Theatre Projects' Enbridge playRites Festival of New Canadian Plays, the Midwinter Blues Festival, Kiwanis Music Festival and the Calgary International Spoken Word Festival all provide a stellar, non-stop stretch of festival events running January through April.
